Why you should volunteer with City Tutors if you are a college student...
Why you should volunteer with City Tutors if you are a working or retired professional...
  • Flexible Time: We have opportunities that can work around your school and work schedule. The commitment level is only 2-5 hours weekly.
  • Our Mentorship Program: We connect you to industry professionals who over 4-6 months help you position for your next professional steps
  • No Prior Formal Experience Necessary: You don't need any formal experience with tutoring. We will give you the tools to succeed. Tutors receive 11.5 hours of training over the semester.
  • Meet Working Professionals From Across Industries:  Half of City Tutors are working/retired professionals from industries like IT, finance, education. You can meet them at the social events we host across the semester.
  • Evening and Weekend Times: If you are working till 5 or 6PM, you can still participate with City Tutors. You can tutor between 6-9PM for 2-3 hours, once a week weekly.
  • Opportunity Near You: We have 25+ partner sites across the city. If you live/work in the city, we likely have opportunities 15-40 minutes from where you are.
  • Training: We don't expect our tutors to have any formal experience tutoring. Our tutor trainer is there to prepare you for the site, and available by email/phone/video call if you need assistance.
  • More Impact: Most of our opportunities put tutors in the classroom where they get to collaborate with an instructor to build a class that's more responsive to students' learning needs.
  • Opportunities to meet other working and retired professionals: We hold social events across the semester--hikes/picnics in the summer, mixers all year round--to help you get to know the 150+ tutors and 60+ mentors who volunteer with us.
